Heartbroken family : mother and son died in horror crash
Broc Dawson, 17, was driving along Aura Boulevard in Bells Creek, on Queensland‘s Sunshine Coast, at 1.15am yesterday when his Toyota Corolla was struck by a motorbike that failed to give way at an intersection.
Broc and the motorbike rider – a 32-year-old Morayfield man – died at the scene, while the teenager’s 16-year-old male passenger was rushed to hospital with minor injuries.
Krystn Dawson said her son had only recently gotten his P-plates and was ‘so excited’ to be able to go out with his friends without having her beside him.

‘He touched many people’s hearts in his short time with us… He wanted to be a pilot and was well on the way to doing this.
‘You will never fully understand what we are going through unless you have been in this situation yourself.
‘Please spend time with your loved ones, tell them how much they mean to you before you never get the chance to again.’
Tributes have poured in online for Broc, a student of Caloundra Christian College, who has been remembered as a ‘good friend’ who loved mountain bike riding.
A makeshift shrine has been set up at the crash site, with friends leaving flowers and candles in Broc’s memory
‘Forever missing you Broc,’ one friend wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of more than a dozen of his friends gathered at the memorial site.
‘Still don’t feel real, rest easy up there g,’ another friend said.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe set up to help support Broc’s devastated family has raised $20,766 of its $60,000 since it was launched on Sunday.
Family friend and organiser Cooper Martin said the donations will help cover costs associated with Broc’s funeral and ‘any related expenses’ to ensure the teenager gets the farewell he deserves.
Queensland Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether speed was a factor.
Anyone with footage of the motorbike prior to the crash is urged to contact police.
