After a police chase, a juvenile in Walsall is arrested after a car strikes a cyclist and then crashes into a pole hours later.

A teenager has been arrested after a car hit a cyclist in Walsall then hours later a car ‘matching the description’ smashed into a lamppost following a police pursuit.

Police were called after a car hit a teenage cyclist in Mossley Lane in Bloxwich at around 4.30pm on Good Friday (April 18).

The cyclist was said to have been injured but not seriously.

The vehicle ‘matching the description’ and thought to be a Mini, was then seen by police officers in Willenhall around three hours later at around 7.30pm.

The driver failed to stop for police who then pursued the vehicle.

It crashed into a lamppost close to the junction with Cannock Road and Coppice Lane.

A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital to be assessed and has now been arrested on suspicion of wounding.

He has been taken into police custody to be quizzed by police officers.

The second crash led to Coppice Lane and Cannock Road being closed.

This in turn led to the Amery Unionist Club in Coppice lane having to close.

The club posted: “Unfortunately we had to close early due to the accident outside our premises.

“What went on we don’t want to know but unfortunately it’s cost our club.”
