Nottingham Forest are planning a major swoop to try and sign Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres should Champions League football be secure.

In January, Evangelos Marinakis requested a striker. But it was challenging to attract players like Matheus Cunha and Yoane Wissa at such a crucial juncture in the season.
Now, if Champions League football is guaranteed over the following nine games, it looks like Forest will start buying at Waitrose instead of Tesco and Asda.

Santiago Gimenez turned down Forest last summer, and it now looks like another well-known center-forward will be targeted at the end of current campaign.

Nottingham Forest make contact to sign Viktor Gyokeres

According to Football Transfers, Forest have already made contact with the representatives of the sensational goalscorer ahead of the summer.

The Reds won’t be alone in this race. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been linked with the 26-year-old previously.

It’s not a surprise to see some of the world’s biggest clubs eyeing Gyokeres given his astonishing scoring record since swapping Coventry for Lisbon.

In 2024/25 he’s already bagged 40 goals in all competitions, with six of those strikes coming in the Champions League – including a hat-trick against Manchester City.

How much Gyokeres could cost Forest According to the article, the Swedish player could cost the Reds around £48 million, as Sporting CP is looking for top dollar for one of Europe’s best. Gyokeres, who has made 91 appearances for Sporting CP and scored 81 goals in those games, is expected to be in high demand this summer. The player, who has 15 goals from 26 Sweden caps, will be hoping to play alongside Anthony Elanga on international duty this week, and maybe the Forest player can pry him.

Forest will have a bounty of cash to spend if Champions League football is secured and a new – high-quality – talisman will definitely be a priority.

Furthermore – and perhaps the most intriguing nugget from the article – it’s claimed that Gyokeres has already been intrigued by the prospect of Forest given a brilliant 2024/25 campaign.

This addition would be a sensational signing for the Reds and would see the club land a marquee centre-forward ahead of next season’s European campaign.
